Here at Shining Light, we have always seen the importance of mobile (and tablet) friendly responsive websites! And it now seems Google is a fan as from the 21st April 2015 it will be favouring websites that are mobile friendly in their rankings!
What’s this Responsive Web Design all about?
Responsive web design (RWD) is an approach to web design aimed at crafting sites to provide an optimal viewing experience—easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling—across a wide range of devices (from desktop computer monitors to mobile phones).
Mobile friendly sites help give your visitors and customers a far superior online experience as the site auto responds to their device screen size. But it seems that just improving the user experience is now just one of the reasons for having a mobile friendly site with Google’s pending search engine changes.
I’m not nobile friendly so what now?
So what does that mean for non-mobile friendly sites? Well it means that very soon you can find yourself further down the search engine result page for your keywords – making it even harder to be found.
So in real terms, having a non-mobile/responsive website means:
- Less Visitors
- Less Enquiries
- Less Sales
- Lower user online satisfaction
Scary!! While it may be a shock to many, we very much welcome the change by Google as it now rewards website owners who spend time improving the online experience for their visitors.
How can I check if I am mobile friendly?
